EICR and electrical testing for Cardiff buildings
Cardiff's growth in city-centre apartments and student towers means Welsh landlord rules and the new Welsh regime for higher-risk buildings both apply to many of our clients here.
An EICR is a detailed inspection and test of your fixed electrical installation. It identifies anything dangerous, potentially dangerous, or in need of improvement, and gives the installation an overall satisfactory or unsatisfactory result.
Private landlords in England, Wales and Scotland must have the electrical installation in rented homes inspected and tested at least every five years. Commercial premises are usually tested at intervals set by the person responsible, commonly every five years for offices and shops and more often for higher-risk sites.
The rules that apply in Cardiff
Landlords in Wales must have an electrical condition report at least every five years and give the contract holder a copy, under the Renting Homes (Wales) fitness regulations.
